Who We Are
The Unitarian
Universalist Congregation of the Chesapeake is a new congregation of
families and individuals who have formed a spiritual community with the goal
of promoting opportunities for liberal religious growth and expression for
children, youth and adults. It is our mission to create a spiritual
environment in which people of diverse cultural, ethnic, racial, economic,
and religious backgrounds can learn to understand, respect, appreciate, and
love one another as well as promote social justice for all and for our
environment. Professional ministry and religious education for all ages are
cornerstones of our congregation. We support the individual spiritual
journeys of our members while at the same time interacting in ways that
promote a healthy community. The Reverend Lori Staubitz, has joined UUCC as
our minister. In addition to stimulating services, she provides us with
professional guidance as we are building our liberal ministry together here
in Southern Maryland. Our ministry focuses on Sunday worship services and
religious education for our children. Our third area of focus involves small
groups getting together to explore issues of spirituality as well as how we
can best live our faith in our daily lives. This includes taking care of one
another and making a difference in the world as we make the world around us
a better place in which to live, work and play.
